How do I get started?
Great question! The first step is to order a Metabolic Test Kit. It's important to test your current nutrient levels so you don't take unnecessary supplements. The metabolic test kit is combined with the online questionnaire to give you a holistic understanding of your supplement needs.
How are the recommendations personalized?
Honed is the only company that uses metabolic testing (through Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis) in conjunction with a lifestyle questionnaire to deliver the most comprehensive health analysis available. Our advanced testing and analysis reveal your personalized vitamin, mineral and nutrient program, designed to fuel, detoxify, and repair health.
Why should I take vitamins?
The short answer is that our food, environment, and ecosystems no longer provide the nutrients that your body requires to perform at its best.
Now let's dive into the longer answer.
Great health is only possible with the proper balance of enzyme systems in our bodies, which make up much of the protein. Temporary deficiencies of vitamins and minerals can lead to the collapse and unbalancing of critical enzyme systems and the entire range of human illnesses that result from the disruption of specific enzyme balances. If you have nutrient deficiencies, then your levels of certain enzyme systems in your cells are likely depressed and require rebuilding. Repair is only possible with an abundance of nutrients necessary to support this healing. With all that in mind, the world has become an increasingly stressful and toxic environment that causes the depletion of nutrients in most people's bodies. Also, the body easily rids itself of small surpluses of water-soluble vitamins. Therefore, it's wise to avoid unnecessary health problems due to their depletion by retaining a small surplus in our systems, rather than risk deficiency that can lead to illness, impeded healing, or retarded growth or development.
How much do subscriptions cost?
We offer four levels of subscription, because some people want a foundational plan and some want it all. All four levels ensure you get nutrients personalized to your specific needs. Your health insights report will include a subscription recommendation to help guide you.
The four levels are Essential, Enhanced, Optimized and Therapeutic. When you get your assessment, you will see your own personalized version of each. Pricing within each level ranges depending on individual needs – starting at $42/month.
What lab do you use?
Our trusted partner, Trace Elements Inc., conducts all our hair testing. They are internationally recognized as the gold standard in Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) and currently serve health professionals in 46 countries. They are based in Addison, Texas.
How is my data protected?
We prioritize the protection of your data; any personal information or payment details shared with us is kept completely confidential, per HIPAA regulations. The same can be said for our partners. Trace Elements Inc., keeps any information related to hair tests completely confidential by law, except for certain situations as permitted under HIPAA. Where do you ship?
We ship to verified addresses across the U.S. and Canada.
Please note that prices on our site are in USD and shipments to Canada come delivered Duty Paid via FedEx and/or Canada Post. All Canadian subscriptions will be sent with 2x months of vitamins per shipment, following the first month sign-up. If you wish to receive your vitamins every month instead, Duty + Taxes + Shipping charges will be at your own expense. U.S. shipments are sent via FedEx Ground/USPS depending on your address and carrier limitations.
We do not currently ship outside of the U.S. and Canada.

Our Test Kit
Can you tell me more about hair testing?
Yes, of course! We have a section all about hair testing to help you understand why this type of analysis is so reliable, revealing, and different from a blood test. You can read more about it here.
How do I register my test kit?
Go to livehoned.com/pages/register and let us know if this is your first time registering, or if you are completing a retest.
From there, follow the instructions on your screen to complete the registration process. Once you have successfully registered your kit, you will be asked to complete the online questionnaire section of your assessment. While it’s best to complete it during registration, you can always come back to your account to complete this step.
Do I need to pay for shipping my sample back to the lab?
We have this covered! For U.S. based customers, a USPS shipping label is provided. For Canadian based customers, use the FedEx label provided in your test kit.
We recommend writing down your return tracking number so you can monitor its delivery to our lab. If you forget your tracking number, don't worry. Reach out to a member of our team - support@livehoned.com - and we can look it up for you.
Where can I drop off my completed test kit?
How do I know if the lab received my kit?
You can monitor the arrival of your test kit to our lab with the tracking number on your return label. If you forget your tracking number, don’t worry. Reach out to a member of our team - support@livehoned.com - and we can look it up for you.
When you send back your test kit to Honed’s lab, it may take up to 7 business days for your sample to show "received" after your sample shows delivered to the lab. It takes time for the lab to accept, process, and enter your sample information.
How long does it take for Honed to analyze my kit?
From the time your sample is received by the lab, it can take up to 7 business days for the analysis to be completed. You will receive an email notification when your analysis is complete and your health insight report is available.

I ordered multiple test kits for my household. Now what?
If you purchased multiple test kits for your household, there are some things to be aware of:
Each test kit can only have one unique email address associated with it when registering. Everybody in your household, including minors, will need to have a separate and unique email address to register their test kit.
If you ordered more than one test kit for different members of your household (such as spouses, siblings, parents, or children), be sure that the test kits are identified for each individual after online registration is complete. This is important because the sample collection is associated with the test kit ID. We recommend writing down each person's name on the outside of the box to avoid mixing up test kits.
If you accidentally swap test kits, your sample will need to be discarded and a replacement test kit ordered. Unfortunately Honed cannot fix swapped test kits once a sample has been sent back to us due to CLIA lab requirements.
A quick note: for shared computers, be sure to log out of your Honed account when using a web browser and registering different test kits. Web browser cookies may enable automatic login to the last account accessed if you do not logout. Because of this, you may answer someone else's Questionnaire if you share the same computer. Always log out after accessing your Honed account on shared computers. If you aren't sure which account you are logged into, check the name on the upper left-hand corner of the main account page.
I'm trying to register my test kit but getting an error.
If you are experiencing problems registering a test kit, try the following troubleshooting steps:
- Double check the test kit ID number to ensure it has been entered correctly. The test kit ID should be 9 digits.
- If there is more than one test kit in your household, be sure to register each test kit to each individual. Each person must have a unique email address.
- If you are trying to register a retest kit, ensure you are selecting this option from the registration page.

How do I collect my hair sample?
First, take a few small portions of hair from different places on your head, keeping up to 1-½'-2' from the scalp. A simple trick is to twist the section of hair you've selected between your fingers until it is tight against the scalp to see the section more easily and cut as close to the scalp as possible. If you shave your head, collect and save your shavings.
After collecting from different areas on your head, keep only the 1-½'-2' closest to the scalp. Discard the ends. However don't get too hung up on the length of the sections - volume is what's most important.
Place the hair scale on a flat surface where it can tip by itself, not with your help. Place your collected hair on the scale. When you have enough, the scale will tip. If in doubt, cut a bit extra. Without enough hair our lab won't have sufficient quantity for a stable analysis.
What if my hair is bleached, colored or chemically processed?
No problem at all! Our hair test analysis can detect and report hair treatment, as hair treatment will exaggerate the calcium test (reading higher than usual). Our analysis takes this into account and your results will be sound. This is because each strand of hair is made up of billions of cells and most are in the interior hair shaft, not affected by treatment.
I am bald. Can I still order a hair test?
Yes! If you are bald because you shave your head, you can save your hair shavings in an envelope until you have enough hair to tip our scale. This takes a bit longer but is the best option. If that's not the case, you can also use chest or pubic hair. Underarm hair is not advised.
Will you see where I cut the hair to use for my hair test?
No! When you take your hair sample, it is best to cut small sections from a few places. This method is better for analysis, but also ensures any cuts are discreet.
Why can't I ship a test kit to New York?
Honed products and services are currently unavailable in the state of New York due to state regulatory restrictions. Honed is unable to ship test kits to New York, and unable to process samples collected or shipped from the state of New York. If you choose to have a Honed kit shipped to an alternate residence outside New York, then your sample must be collected and shipped from that location.
Do test kits expire?
No, our test kit does not expire so you can use it when you wish.
How will I receive my results?
When your health insight results are ready, you will receive an email notification letting you know. They will be available for you inside your personal account.
How do I update my shipping information?
Log in to your account and you can change your address for future orders under the Shipping & Payment tab. Ensure you make it your “Default” address. If an order has already been processed, this change will affect your next order.
Your Plan
How long does it take to process my vitamins?
Once your order is received it takes up to 3-5 business days for your first order to be processed. This processing time is a result of the care, customization, and personalization we put into each box. Your order requires a high level of detail since it's truly made just for you, and we are working hard to create your packs.
When will I receive my order each month?
Renewals are set to be shipped every 28 days (i.e. every 4 weeks) starting from when your first order is marked ordered. If you look at your Manage Subscription page within your account, the “Next Order” date updates once you've received your most recent order.
For Canadian orders, shipments will be sent every 56 days (i.e. every 8 weeks) with two months of vitamins included in each order. If you wish to receive your vitamins every month instead, Duty + Taxes + Shipping charges will be at your own expense.
How do I change my order date?
You can update your order date right from your account. All you have to do is go to Manage Subscription > Upcoming Order. From there you can choose to order it now, change the exact order date, or skip the order from the bottom of the page.
Can I just order one month?
Yes! You aren't locked into your subscription and can pause or cancel at any time.
How do I resume my subscription?
You can always resume your subscriptions by logging in to your account and clicking Manage Subscription > Subscriptions > Inactive Subscriptions > Re-activate.
Can I change the email address on my account?
Yes you can! Just not on the website. Email us at support@livehoned.com and we'll take care of that for you.
How do I update my shipping address?
Log in to your account and you can change your address for future orders under the Shipping & Payment tab. If an order has already been processed, this change will affect your next order.
How do I update my billing information?
To update your billing information you will need to login to your account and navigate to Manage Subscription > Payment Methods.
What's the status of my order?
Once processed by the courier, transit typically takes 3-5 business days within the U.S. and 5-7 days within Canada.
Tracking details are automatically sent once the order has been processed by the courier. Notification will be sent from support@livehoned.com to the email address on your Honed account with the subject line “Your order is on its way.”
For the most accurate shipping updates, including any potential transit delay notifications, you can enter thetracking number directly into the FedEx tracking page.
Can I suggest adding a vitamin if there is one I want to take?
If you are taking a specific supplement that we don’t offer, feel free to get in touch with us and we’ll provide a recommended approach.
What about my other supplements?
We suggest you stop taking your other vitamins when you start your Honed program. Your personalized plan will cover all the bases. Our vitamins are of higher quality and absorb better than most on the market so they will provide enhanced support over what you are taking now. If you have a specific supplement that we don't offer, feel free to get in touch with us and we'll provide a recommended approach.
How will I know what each of the supplements are in my pack?
The supplements within each individual pack are listed directly on your daily packs. You can find detailed information on each of our supplements here.
How long do I have to wait to witness changes?
Wellness is personal and long-lasting health doesn't come overnight. If you consider how long your body has been out of balance, it will take time for your cellular health and metabolism to optimize. Some people report experiencing improvements in their overall wellbeing in just weeks. We recommend sticking to your personalized program for at least three-six months to see tangible benefits. Re-testing allows you to understand and monitor the changes to your health overtime from a data-led perspective.
Should I share the insight with my doctor?
We advise you to share information about anything that you are ingesting with your healthcare professional.
How do I update my questionnaire responses?
Click the Retake Questionnaire button from your main account page. You'll be guided through the questionnaire again and your profile will be updated with the new information. If any changes to your supplements need to be made, they will be reflected in a new report and your next order will also reflect your updated recommendations.
When should I retest?
We recommend that you retest your nutrient levels after ~9-12 months with your Honed supplements. This allows sufficient time for your metabolism and nutrient levels to rebalance and change accordingly. At this point our analysis can identify what work still needs to be done and continue to aid in optimizing your health.
Why should I retest?
Your health - and life - is constantly evolving. As such, it's unlikely that the exact same nutrients will be required forever. Retesting allows you to understand progress, identify areas that require improvement, and update your supplements to address your current needs.
What happpens to my supplements after I retest?
Your supplements are automatically updated based on your latest results and will be reflected in your next order. There is nothing for you to do except review your latest health insight reports. You can of course also change your subscription level if you are looking for more - or less - support.

Are your vitamins FDA approved?
By law, the FDA does not approve vitamins and dietary supplements. That said, all of our vitamins and supplements adhere to FDA certified Good Manufacturing Practices.

What is the quality and care of the vitamins?
Our products use the purest, most natural, bio-available combinations of nutrients available. Our finished products are rigorously tested and we have chosen ISURA™ third party verification for our supplement products because they use state-of-the-art equipment to audit, test & verify those products from seed to table. This includes mass spectrometry to test for over 600 pesticides, solvents, heavy metals, and other contaminants, as well as real-time PCR (polymerase chain reaction) analysis, to identify genetically modified or genetically engineered organisms. ISURA guarantees non-GMO, safe, pure and potent.
Do these vitamins contain dairy, gluten, nuts or soy?
Our products use only the purest, safest, and most natural nutrients available and are all dairy and gluten-free. Our vitamin E complex contains an E complex partially extracted from non-GMO soy, however the E complex does not contain soy itself (proteins, lipids, sugars or estrogen-promoting compounds).
Are your products vegetarian/vegan friendly?
Most of our supplements are vegetarian/vegan but make sure to check. Some of our products are inside a bovine capsule that is not vegan. If you click on any of our products from here, you can review all of the ingredients.
Will my vitamins have any interactions with my prescriptions?
We always recommend sharing your health insight results with your healthcare professional — however, our questionnaire and analysis cross-reference for any contraindications with specific prescription products.
Which vitamins can I take if I'm pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding?
Honed has researched the increased metabolic and nutritional demands experienced with pregnancy and breastfeeding for over 20 years. Our personalized programs provide pregnant and breastfeeding mothers with the optimized nutrition and supplements for you and baby.
Reach out to us if either of these changes occur once already on the program as your subscription will need to be adjusted to reflect your new nutritional needs. We also recommend discussing your supplements and assessment results with your doctor or healthcare professional.
How should I store my vitamins?
We recommend storing your personalized packs in a cool, dry place and out of direct sunlight. Excessive exposure to heat may affect supplements and exposing vitamins to heat over a prolonged period can degrade them.
When should I take my vitamins? Should I take them with food?
We suggest taking our vitamins a few minutes before a meal because they are designed to work with food. This allows for even nutritional support throughout the day, and helps prevent stomach upset for those sensitive to supplements. Ultimately, it's up to you, and you should do what works best for your routine.
What if I forget to take my vitamins at the right time?
Your personal plan is designed to give energy boosting supplements in the morning, and those that help with relaxation in the evening. If you forget to take them at breakfast, you can take them with lunch or an afternoon snack. For the evening supplements, if you forget at dinner, you can take them before bed. If you miss a whole day, that's okay - start again the next day. And if you get behind, we can also pause your subscription so they don't pile up.
I've started taking my subscription and I noticed my urine is yellow, why is that?
The yellow in your pee is a little bit of vitamin B2 (riboflavin) gradually being released. You can read more about why this is a good thing here.
When do my products expire?
We recommend you consume our supplement products within six months from the day you order your supplements. Note that if your vitamins have been exposed to heat for a prolonged period of time, the quality may be degraded. We are unable to accept returns or issue refunds after products have shipped, nor are we responsible for products that are lost or stolen during shipping.

How can I cancel my subscription?
We'll be sad to see you go! If your vitamin boxes are piling up, feel free to change your subscription's cadence or delay your next box, so you can catch up on your current supply. To change your subscription cadence, head over to Manage Subscription > Subscriptions > Active Subscription. You can easily update your next order date, order frequency, or skip and cancel your subscription from here.
How can I send someone a gift card?
